ABOUT SALTY

Salty Brine is a New York-based cabaret artist, writer, and actor.

He is the creative force behind The Living Record Collection, a series of cabaret performances which weave together iconic, popular albums with major cultural touchstones from classic literature to opera and beyond; Each album performed with a live band and Salty’s unique brand of memoir-esque storytelling.

Time Out New York says, “The show is highly addictive: Once you’ve been dunked into Brine, you’ll want to dive back…”

The LRC’s artistic home is Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater where Salty regularly premiers new works from the Collection.

Since 2016 Salty has been a resident performer at New York’s intimate supper-club, Pangea, where he continues to develop work.

He has created 20 wildly-different evenings of theater built around as many albums; from The Smiths’ The Queen is Dead to Neutral Milk Hotel’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. And in 2018 he received a Bistro Award in Outstanding Creative Artistry for his show, WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, built around Harry Nilsson’s remarkable album Nilsson Schmilsson.

As bookwriter, Salty is collaborating with renowned songwriter of stage and screen, Alan Menken, on the queer, sci-fi musical spectacular, ATINA: EVIL QUEEN OF THE GALAXY.

As performer he has worked with director Andrew Neisler in César Alvarez’s original musical THE ELEMENTARY SPACETIME SHOW (Are Nova, FringeArts); with playwright Adam Symcowitz, composer/lyricist Adam Overett, and musical director Ian Axness in CLOWN BAR(Pipeline Theatre Company, The Box); and with Taylor Mac, Matt Ray, Machine Dazzle, Rachel Chavkin, Rachelle Garniez, David Drake, and 50+ brilliant theater artists in Mac’s own five-hour epic THE LILY’S REVENGE (HERE).
